Key functionalities
With the new billing platform, you can:
- Estimate spending: Understand where your (annual, monthly, etc.) spending is trending based on the usage across budgets.
- Gather insights and data: Generate usage reports to share with your team or stakeholders, and know if you're on track with your budget.
- Prevent overspending: Use budgets and alerts to track and control your spending.
- Observe and understand spending: Understand how your spending changes over time and across which products.
How do I know if I can access the new billing platform?
Outside of GitHub Enterprise Cloud, the enhanced billing platform is only available to:
- Organization accounts on a GitHub Team plan created after November 13, 2024.
- Organization accounts on a GitHub Free plan created after February 4, 2025.
It is currently not available to user accounts on any plan.
Beginning in February 2025, GitHub will migrate organizations on GitHub Team to the new billing platform. Organizations will receive notice 30 days before their migration.
Organization owners and billing managers can check for access to the enhanced platform:
- In the upper-right corner of GitHub, select your profile photo, then click Your organizations.
- Next to the organization, click Settings.
