Disabling projects in a repository
When you disable projects in a repository, linked projects will no longer be available in the repository's Projects tab. Linked projects will remain accessible at an organization or user level.

On GitHub, navigate to the main page of the repository.

Under your repository name, click Settings. If you cannot see the "Settings" tab, select the dropdown menu, then click Settings.

Under "Features," deselect the Projects checkbox.
Disabling projects (classic) in a repository
When you disable projects (classic) in a repository, existing projects (classic) are inaccessible at their previous URLs. If you decide to re-enable projects (classic), any projects (classic) that were previously added will be available.
After you disable projects (classic), you will no longer see project (classic) information in timelines or audit logs.
