Transferring ownership of an OAuth app

You can transfer ownership of an OAuth app to another user or organization.

  1. In the upper-right corner of any page, click your profile photo, then click Settings.

  2. In the left sidebar, click Developer settings.

  3. In the left sidebar, click OAuth apps.

  4. Select the OAuth app you want to modify.

  5. Click Transfer ownership.

  6. To confirm the transfer, in the text field, type the name of the OAuth app you want to transfer.

  7. Under "New owner's GitHub username or organization name," type the name of the user or organization you want to transfer the OAuth app to.

  8. Click Transfer this application.

Once you initiate the transfer, the new owner needs to navigate to their OAuth apps page. From there, they should see the app listed under "Pending transfer requests". They need to click on the app name and then click Complete transfer.
