Use the REST API to interact with secrets in GitHub Actions.

About secrets in GitHub Actions

You can use the REST API to create, update, delete, and retrieve information about secrets that can be used in workflows in GitHub Actions. Secrets allow you to store sensitive information, such as access tokens, in your repository, repository environments, or organization. For more information, see "Using secrets in GitHub Actions."

List organization secrets

Works with GitHub Apps

Lists all secrets available in an organization without revealing their encrypted values.

You must authenticate using an access token with the admin:org scope to use this endpoint. If the repository is private, you must use an access token with the repo scope. GitHub Apps must have the secrets organization permission to use this endpoint. Authenticated users must have collaborator access to a repository to create, update, or read secrets.

Get an organization public key

Works with GitHub Apps

Gets your public key, which you need to encrypt secrets. You need to encrypt a secret before you can create or update secrets.

You must authenticate using an access token with the admin:org scope to use this endpoint. If the repository is private, you must use an access token with the repo scope. GitHub Apps must have the secrets organization permission to use this endpoint. Authenticated users must have collaborator access to a repository to create, update, or read secrets.

selected_repository_ids array of integers

An array of repository ids that can access the organization secret. You can only provide a list of repository ids when the visibility is set to selected. You can manage the list of selected repositories using the List selected repositories for an organization secret, Set selected repositories for an organization secret, and Remove selected repository from an organization secret endpoints.

You must authenticate using an access token with the repo scope to use this endpoint. GitHub Apps must have the secrets repository permission to use this endpoint. Authenticated users must have collaborator access to a repository to create, update, or read secrets.

Get the public key for an environment, which you need to encrypt environment secrets. You need to encrypt a secret before you can create or update secrets.

Anyone with read access to the repository can use this endpoint. If the repository is private you must use an access token with the repo scope. GitHub Apps must have the secrets repository permission to use this endpoint. Authenticated users must have collaborator access to a repository to create, update, or read secrets.
