When you remove a collaborator from your project, they lose read/write access to your repository.

Deleting forks of private repositories

Once a person is removed as a collaborator on a private repository, they will retain access to the fork, but they cannot fetch changes to sync with your repository.

While you can't delete a fork of a private repository, you can do one of these things:

  • Contact your GitHub Enterprise site administrator to request the fork be deleted. Note that public forks of a repository that was public when it was forked cannot be deleted, even if the repository is now private.
  • Delete the private repository, which deletes all forks.

Removing collaborator permissions from a person contributing to a repository

  1. On GitHub Enterprise, navigate to the main page of the repository.

  2. In the repository's right sidebar, click Settings. Repository settings button

  3. In the left sidebar, click Collaborators & teams. Collaborators tab

  4. Next to the collaborator you want to remove, click the X icon. Remove link
