Enabling GitHub.com repository search from your private enterprise environment

You can connect your personal accounts on GitHub.com and your private GitHub Enterprise environment to search for content in certain GitHub.com repositories from GitHub Enterprise Server.

About search for GitHub.com repositories from GitHub Enterprise Server

You can search for designated private repositories on GitHub Enterprise Cloud from your GitHub Enterprise Server instance.

Prerequisites

  • An enterprise owner for GitHub Enterprise Server must enable GitHub Connect and unified search for private repositories. For more information, see the following.

  • You must already have access to the private repositories and connect your account on GitHub Enterprise Server with your account on GitHub.com. For more information about the repositories you can search, see "About searching on GitHub."

Enabling GitHub.com repository search from GitHub Enterprise Server

  1. Sign into GitHub Enterprise Server and GitHub.com.

  2. On GitHub Enterprise Server, in the upper-right corner of any page, click your profile photo, then click Settings. Settings icon in the user bar

  3. In the left sidebar, click GitHub Connect. GitHub Connect tab in the user settings sidebar

  4. Click Connect to GitHub.com.
